Should we go to the cloud? The myths are debunked

Debunking some myths that hinder cloud computing

Cloud computing is a rather complex storage data backup and protection strategy.  Its challenges, as an emerging phenomenon, have been long discussed in this and other technology blogs.

Unfortunately, there are people who seem to be floating in clouds when judging such a functional phenomenon and manage to create a state of fear or aversion towards the novelty of cloud computing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs)

Alfredo Vela  helps us refute some myths, and Globenet is happy to  share them with its friends.

The cloud is unsafe … it is not! 63% of SMEs recommend it for the reason that it keeps a backup of the business information in a professional data center.

The cloud is expensive … it is not! SMEs have saved 53% in infrastructure, allowing channeling of the budget into optimizing other business processes.

The cloud increases the expenses of your business … it does not! There is a 71% savings in maintenance costs.  In the cloud, one only spends on the services used; technical support is done by the provider.

The advantages can be summarized in 4 variables: ability to react to failures of information systems, accessible from any device, strengthening of the employees’ activity and contacts with customer.

But BEWARE!! It will always be necessary to assess the functions of the cloud that are suitable for your company, to choose a reliable provider and maybe a couple of them… in order to guarantee access redundancy and to choose a stable and reliable cloud, as well.  The migration process should also be done by experts to prevent loss of sensitive data.

The cloud should be designed as a means to an end… but it should be designed with “affection”; after all, it is a good means… We suggest, you choose!
