Cloud computing guarantees

It is important for people to know that storing information in the cloud or hiring a service of virtual machine for a company offers endless guarantees and advantages:

1. The guarantee of data privacy. More and more providers guarantee their client-companies privacy of their data: their privacy policy is similar to the one proclaimed by safe-deposit boxes of the best banks: they provide the support and part of the means where users are to keep their property; but they are not aware of the details. And for this ethical guarantee, in an external level the provider requires authentication that prevents hacking or unauthorized access: The buyer of a virtual space has remote access to his or her information via a generic user interface; but companies can request their entry via an administrator’s interface and from there they can configure the different access levels of their employees. On the other hand, in order to guarantee the security of the “company” clients, the provider has different and sophisticated security layers that generally a SME (Small or Medium Companies) cannot afford to hire, so they are usually satisfied with the cloud.

2. The guarantee of data security. The provider gives the user a certainty of the non degradation of their information, either due to affections of the physical means or due to malware: the customers do not know in what physical space their data are, but they know that their data are in some of the safest places in the world, where there are no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no chance of typhoons, far from a possible coastal flooding, floods, in a word, far from extreme weather conditions and from areas of armed conflicts. Apart from that, security systems also protect the information with the most robust antivirus on the market. Lastly, the quality of being immediate self-repairable systems should be mentioned: before a failure, the last back up stops to automatically be the primary copy and new one is generated.

3. The guarantee of access to a part of the provider. The provider guarantees the customer the access to his data as long as the contract remains in force and also takes into account the possibility of removing information from the cloud in order to protect it in traditional supports.

4. The guarantee by service level agreement. The agreement for the use of virtual infrastructure should always be accompanied by a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that defines the expected performance ranges and its permanence during the hours of most demand.

5. The guarantee by traffic level agreement. It is true that all providers have broadband; however, IaaS providers are not always the same Internet providers; so if there is no coincidence, a broker who keeps the whole time a high range of Quality of Service (QoS) must be hired; on the other hand, there should be an investment in the access points and routers of the company so that these are not the ones reducing the traffic speed.
