Microsoft wants to migrate Windows completely to the Cloud
Although we already know that Microsoft has been working on migrating its Windows operating system to the cloud for some time, specifically with Windows 365 for companies, there is no doubt that the company is going all out with this model that it intended to implement it for domestic environments as well.
According to internal documents from 2022 which have been revealed now, after the confrontation between the firm and the FTC, Microsoft plans to increasingly move Windows 11 to the cloud.
Windows 365 in business environments
Windows was already accessible in the cloud as early as 2021 through Windows 365, but only for organizations that found both Business and Enterprise an attractive way to easily manage, configure, and deploy mobile workforces that sign on from anywhere.
Windows 365 became critical for those companies that needed to reduce expensive investments to manage and support huge numbers of devices. Thus, by having virtualized equipment it is no longer necessary to keep them up to date locally, since all applications and data are available remotely, accessible from different platforms.
An improved experience for domestic users
At least so far, everything indicates that this model could be replicated in the domestic market in a short time. In fact, the company already has among its goals an upcoming update that will include Windows 365 Boot. This will allow Windows 11 devices to sign in directly to a Cloud PC instance at boot instead of the local version of Windows, which would be vital for home users deploying Windows in the cloud.
For domestic environments, taking the operating system to the cloud could also be interesting to the extent that we can combine the power and security of the cloud to safely transmit our Windows experience be it applications, data, tools, configurations and personalized options from any device.
The access to our personal computer in the cloud will also allow us to experiment with a better security design for each environment, taking advantage of the potential of the Microsoft cloud, and the principles of Zero Trust.
You already know it: Microsoft’s strategy to move more and more Windows to the cloud is underway. We will also see if in this way they will be able to take advantage of the power of Cloud Computing and the client to offer improved services with a truly complete and flexible digital experience for home users as well.
