How do WhatsApp’s new tools work to protect our conversations?
WhatsApp has launched an interesting feature to achieve extra security and privacy in our conversations. This is demonstrated by the latest update that allows you to do so through the Touch ID or Face ID functions.
While it is true that a few years ago WhatsApp already had available the ability to restrict access to the application using FaceID or TouchID functions with which you could display a blurred screen in case of unauthorized access, now the functions have gone further by allowing locks on chats.
Basically, with these new updates in the biometric security features of the application, you will have a new folder called “Blocked Chats” where the conversations that we want to keep protected will be located. To access them it will be necessary to confirm your identity through fingerprint sensor or facial recognition.
However, you should keep in mind that by using these tools, you will only have achieved privacy in the application, but not in the web version of WhatsApp, where your conversations will continue to be displayed without the blocking offered by these functions.
Although currently only available for iOS systems, these tools are shown as necessary elements for our privacy in both individual and group chats.
Let’s see how to activate them:
In order to use Touch ID or Face ID systems in WhatsApp, you must first enable them in iPhone Settings.
- In WhatsApp, open Settings.
- TapPrivacy>Screenlock.
- Activate Require Touch ID or Require Face ID.
- Select the amount of time WhatsApp can be in standby mode before Touch ID or Face ID is required.
To deactivate Touch ID or Face ID you must do the following:
- In WhatsApp, open Settings.
- TapPrivacy>Screenlock.
- Uncheck Require Touch ID or Require Face ID.
In that sense, there will be no concern that a third party will enter the chats and spy on the conversations.
Convert your voicemail messages to text from Whataspp
Currently there are already many applications that allow you to convert voice notes to text, but being able to do it from a WhatsApp function is more than perfect. It is also a useful solution for when you are in a public place and do not want to play the voice notes.
For some time now the popular instant messaging application had flirted with the idea of being able to introduce this feature, but it was not until a few weeks ago that this possibility was already made official, although for the moment it is only for users who have the WhatsApp beta on iPhone.
To use the voice message transcription feature from the video call application, you will need to do so by going to the chats settings.
Once you have it activated by default, you will see how all voice memos will be automatically converted to text. In this way you will receive the symbol to play the audio and just below the transcription,it will appear without the need to play it immediately.
